What a tracker does
A vehicle tracker tells you — and, on monitored systems, a control centre — where your vehicle is. If it is moved without your authorisation, the alert can be investigated and the vehicle located.

S7 means tracking
A Thatcham S7 system provides insurance-approved tracking of the vehicle. It is the straightforward option where your insurer asks for an approved tracker.

S5 adds driver recognition
A Thatcham S5 system adds driver recognition, using a tag or card to help identify whether an authorised person is using the vehicle. Some S5 systems also immobilise.
